How We Can Help

Dr. Brooke Breuer performing a round ligament release on a pregnant mom after a chiropractic adjustment in Bismarck, ND.

"WHEN SHOULD I START PRENATAL CHIROPRACTIC CARE?"

Short answer – as soon as possible! Starting care before you are pregnant is going to have the biggest impact.

The nervous system controls neurodevelopment in utero. In other words, your nervous system controls the development of your baby’s nervous system. When you’re under stress that will influence the pregnancy + baby!

MOM STRESS = BABY STRESS

Pregnancy is a season of constantly changing and adapting. Addressing stress early on allows you to stay ahead of it, you don’t have to wait for problems or discomfort to show up!

This doesn’t mean it’s too late if you’re already expecting or in your third trimester.🤰🏽We adapt care so you can still experience positive changes!

"WHY WOULD A BABY NEED TO BE ADJUSTED?"

Here's why.. The business of being born is hard work!

Studies have shown that 99% of babies have some sort of misalignment + fixation to their spine following the birth process.

The birthing process is one of the biggest stressors to the delicate upper neck + neurology most of us will endure during a life time.

Even in natural, un-intervened child-births, close to 40 lbs of pressure can be put on the infants head and neck. Often times, C-sections, forceps or vacuum deliveries are needed, which dramatically increase the force sustained to this delicate neurology. These interventions can be life saving, but do not come without undue trauma to both mama and baby!

This is why chiropractic is so important for babies! Chiropractic is not just for aches and pains! It’s so much more than that.

"HOW DOES CHIROPRACTIC CARE HELP NURSING AND BREASTFEEDING?"

Breastfeeding doesn’t always come without difficulties. Something meant to be so natural, can be SO hard!⠀⠀

There's a huge connection between stress on a newborn’s spine and breastfeeding difficulties.⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Physical stress on a newborn’s spine + cranial bones is often a result of positioning in-utero and trauma related to the birthing process.⠀

"HOW DO YOU ADJUST KIDS? THEY ARE SO SQUIRMY!"

Getting adjusted is a family affair around here!

Worried about how your baby will respond to laying down for an adjustment?

We believe in meeting kids where they are! That means we don’t only do adjustments on the table. We can adjust their little bodies while they play in our playroom or are being held by mama.

If you have questions about chiropractic care for babies and kids send us a message!

"WHEN CAN I GET ADJUSTED AGAIN AFTER HAVING MY BABY?"

We get asked this question a lot and the short answer is - whenever you feel ready!

Labor and delivery is a marathon, regardless of if you had a vaginal birth or a belly birth. Lots of things in your body are still changing (hormones, pelvic alignment, muscle tone) in addition to your new schedule (hello sleep deprivation)!

At the end of the day, it is when you feel the most comfortable. If you want to stop by on your way home from the hospital - great! We will be ready for you! If you want to soak in the snuggles at home for a few weeks - just make sure you sent us those sweet baby pictures and we will see you again when you are ready.

There is no right or wrong answer other than doing what is best for you. We are here to help you through the transition to motherhood every step of the way!

"WHY DO CHIROPRACTORS WORK IN THE BABY'S MOUTH? WHAT IS CRANIAL CARE?"

As chiropractors, we know that palate adjustments go far beyond just realigning the bones in the mouth. These adjustments can be a game-changer for families, especially for those struggling with breastfeeding.

But the reality is that a simple, gentle palate adjustment can help a baby with latch issues, tongue tie, or reflux by addressing misalignments in the skull and jaw that are often overlooked by traditional healthcare approaches. By correcting these subtle misalignments, we help improve the baby's ability to latch properly, feed comfortably, and reduce stress for both baby and parent.

Our goal is to support the whole family, restoring balance to the body, improving breastfeeding outcomes, and helping parents feel empowered and informed about their options. It's about providing real solutions when everything else has fallen short.

"WHAT ARE THE 3 T'S AND HOW DO THEY AFFECT ME AND MY FAMILY?

When we talk about nervous system stress, we categorize into three different groups! Although they are different stressors, they take a toll on how the brain + body communicate with one another.

Emotional stress can build up and may show up as things like mental health struggles, hyperactivity, or adrenal fatigue.

Chemical stress can build up and show up as things like allergic reactions, eczema, or food intolerances.

Physical stress can build up and show up as things like muscular fatigue or soreness, headaches/migraines, and struggles with motor control.

It’s important to be aware of what stressors may cause the biggest toll on you. As chiropractors, our job is to make sure your body has a higher adaptability to everyday stressors so your brain + body can keep communicating optimally!

"WAIT YOU SEE DADS TOO?!?!"

That's right! We truly do take care of the whole family.

Dads, we know many of you have labor-intensive jobs, play in sports leagues, golf, tackle yard work, and chase after your kids. You need nervous system based care too!

In order to keep being super dad, your nervous system needs to be functioning at the highest level. Scheduled your adjustment today!

"YOU CAN'T HEAL AND GROW WHEN YOU'RE RUNNING FROM A BEAR? BUT WHERE'S THE BEAR!?!"

We use this analogy a lot to help explain how your nervous system works. When you are running from a bear, your 'fight or flight' system takes over to get you to safety. This prioritizes survival, focusing only on essential functions, sending blood and resources to your muscles to keep you alive. This is your sympathetic nervous system.

The opposite is your 'rest and digest' system, aka your parasympathetic system. This is also your healing part of the nervous system. This is when your body redirects energy and resources to digestion, immune system, and sleep. When you are running from a bear, your body doesn't care about these functions.

But wait, where's the bear? The 'bear' can be ANYTHING that stresses our body out to the point that we can't activate our 'rest and digest' system. Bills, work, kids, school, the birth process, repetitive sickness, injuries, and so many common stressors can be the 'bear' in our lives.

Chiropractic care can help our body's turn back on the parasympathetic system and get us back to health. But in addition, lifestyle changes need to be addressed to put the bear back in the zoo so we can quit running and start LIVING.
